These are the ground rules for what HeritageMingle is and is not. If you see something that breaks them, use the Report button on the surface it appears — reports are private and the subject is never told.
Two members of the same family will sometimes remember something differently. That is normal. Keep the conversation on the record, on the sources, on what the elders said. Reach for a professional genealogist if you want a proper answer. Do not use the family tree editor as a weapon against a relative.
Both members must consent before any private family information is compared. Consent can be withdrawn at any time. Never share your Heritage Check result with a third party without the other person also agreeing. The result is between the two of you.
Every listing is member-submitted and reviewed before it appears. Be truthful about what you offer. Report a listing that turns out to be misleading — moderators will act.
Moderators can remove a post, cancel an event, revoke a listing, or suspend an account. We tell the subject what they did and how to appeal. We never tell the reporter who they were.
